Seton Hall’s Lloyd Jefferson Go shot a 210 (-6) over three rounds, including a course record 65 in the second round to win the individual Big East Golf Championship at Callawassie Island Golf Club. Go’s historic round was the best round by a Seton Hall golfer in Big East Championship history. Go joins former Pirate golfers Eugene Smith (2000) and Mike Costigan (1996) as the only Big East Champions in Seton Hall’s history. As a team, Seton Hall finished tied for sixth with Butler shooting a 901 (+37).
The victory is Go’s second of the year, and qualifies him for the NCAA Regionals, which are held from May 16-18. Despite the spectacular performance from Go, Georgetown easily captured the title. The Hoyas bested second place Xavier by 27 strokes. Seton Hall finished 37 strokes behind Georgetown, finished only ten strokes behind second place Xavier and five strokes behind third place DePaul.
After Go, the Pirates were led by freshman Gen Nagai, who had a strong showing in his first Big East Championship. Nagai shot a 225 (+9) to finish tied for 14th. The Pirates lone senior, Ryan Snouffer wrapped up his career shooting a 235 (+19) to finish tied for 27th. Chris Yeom and Kevin O’Brien each shot a 235 (+19) and 242 (+26), respectively.
