Seton Hall women’s golf tees off 2026-27 season at Nittany Lion Invitational

The Pirates start the women’s golf season 3-14 at Penn State.

The Seton Hall women’s golf team opened the season this Monday in an 18-team invitational at the Penn State Golf Courses. The Pirates placed 15th and scored 52 over par, while Virginia Tech won the event at  20 below par.

The season opener came after SHU finished last season ranked 213th nationally. Across 10 events, the Pirates finished with a 33-85 record and averaged 6.30 weighted points per event. It was head coach Jackie Mullens’ first season with the team.

SHU’s best finish last season came at the Rutgers Invitational, where the Pirates finished 5th out of 16 at 79 over par and earned 12.75 weighted points.

Mullens returned for her second season and had to replace graduating seniors Anne-Sofie Ekman and Lara Todorovic. Freshman Laney Bae from Huntington Beach, California, and Freshman Gia Vitelli from Cranbury, New Jersey, were added for the 2026-27 season.

At Happy Valley, SHU played 56 holes over three rounds. Sophomore Isabella Stewart recorded seven birdies and scored four over par to lead the Pirates.

Senior Kasumi Tran scored four birdies to finish on par in round two, marking SHU’s best single-round performance. She finished the invitational 14 over par with seven birdies.

Mullens also debuted Bae, who recorded three birdies in her first collegiate round and finished the event 33 over par. Vitelli did not play for SHU.

The Pirates will play their next event at the Quail Valley Golf Course in Littlestown, Pennsylvania, on Sept. 14 and 15.
