South Orange Village Center presents PlayDay

If you want to relive some of your childhood, here’s an opportunity.

On Sunday, Sept. 21, PlayDay South Orange is welcoming the whole community to come together for a special event that will include a wide array of games, music, art, sports and food. The event is scheduled to go from 1 to 6 p.m. and will take place right in the streets of the South Orange Village Center.

The best part of the whole event is that the majority of it is free. Some aspects of PlayDay, however, do require you to purchase a wristband but for $10 you get unlimited access to inflatables, mini golf and a remote-controlled car race course.

All of the table games, street games, art experience, and sport court and health/ fitness zone will be free.

The table games will include chess, checkers, Chutes and Ladders, Connect 4 and other classic childhood games, while the street games will consist of hopscotch, four-square, hula hoops and a bean bag toss.

If those games aren’t aggressive enough for you then check out the sport court where you can play basketball, tennis or soccer. For the less competitive person, taking a group Zumba or boxing class might be right.

Bob Zuckerman, the executive director of the South Orange Village Center Alliance, describes the event as “a day to celebrate South Orange.” He said he’s hoping this will become a signature event for South Orange that will be a recurring event every year.
