Living in Ivy: Students experience a diverse atmosphere

Walking through the Ivy Hill apartments, the sun glares through the otherwise dimly lit hallway. An elderly Russian woman throws her trash out with a smile washed across her face. She does not speak English, but she tries to form words and shakes her head in frustration. “Russia,” she says, explaining her lack of communication.

Community protests immigration ban

The executive order is called “Protecting the Nation from Foreign Terrorist Entry into the United States” and included banning travel from seven Muslim-majority countries for 90 days and suspending all refugee admissions for 120 days. The countries directly affected by the travel ban are Iraq, Syria, Sudan, Iran, Somalia, Libya and Yemen.

SHU preps for @realDonaldTrump’s inauguration

Students were asked what they would tweet to the president-elect. A majority of those who responded said they feel indifferent toward Trump and would not know what to tweet him. A few other students said they have no desire to tweet Trump.
