With the further entrenchment of anti-immigrant sentiment in the United States and abroad, a member of the Seton Hall community has dedicated her life’s work to combatting misunderstandings of society’s most ostracized members including immigrants.
The Pirate Sports Network (PSN), a fully student-run organization, has been producing live content for the past couple of years. The primary focus of the organization is to produce live games for varsity sports at Seton Hall, but this year the organization has turned its content up a notch by adding different feature length pieces. “A Pirate’s Life,” the main one gives a more in-depth look at some of the student-athletes at Seton Hall and their extensive backstories.
Student Government Association Treasure Divine Tanamal and Finance Committee Chair Ronald Babiak announced a restructuring of the finance committee which will shrink the number of voting members down to four non-SGA students and three student senators. According to Treasurer Tanamal the smaller number of voting members will create a space for debate on the allocation of funds which was lacking when the membership was larger.
Through a partnership with TurboVote, Seton Hall University will continue its effort to encourage students to get out and vote. TurboVote, a non-partisan organization that helps students sign up to vote is meant to push students to be more politically engaged and participate in the upcoming election season. This service is especially targeted at out-of-state students, with its focus on absentee ballots.
This fall Seton Hall implemented a new electronic parking permit system called NuPark, has been implemented for the South Orange campus.
According to The New York Times report from March, podcast listeners have significantly increased in the last year. Research conducted by Edison Research and Triton Digital, an audio technology and advertising company, claimed that podcast listenership has increased among all age cohorts. The New York Times wrote that 40% of people between the ages of 12 and 24 listened to a podcast in the last month, which is a 10% increase from 2018.
