Women’s basketball lands second commit, Samari Bankhead, out of transfer portal

The Pirates add more depth at the guard position after the loss of Jada Eads.

With the departure of one Seton Hall women’s basketball guard came the addition of another.

On Saturday, Samari Bankhead, a freshman guard for UCF, announced on Instagram that she has committed to the program out of the transfer portal.

Appearing in all 30 games for the Knights last season, starting three of them, Bankhead averaged 3.6 points and 1.4 rebounds in 15.2 minutes per game.

The Los Angeles native had two standout performances during her freshman campaign, the first being a 13-point, four-assist performance against Florida A&M on Nov. 18, followed by a season-high 16 points against 12th-ranked Baylor on Feb. 15.

This comes the same day that Jada Eads, the former All-BIG EAST First Team guard who first announced she would enter the portal on April 21, committed to Tennessee.

Bankhead is The Hall’s second commitment out of the transfer portal, joining Saniyah King, a sophomore guard from Mississippi State who committed to The Hall on April 20.
