Men’s basketball’s Jahseem Felton enters transfer portal after injury-shortened season

The sophomore backcourt piece becomes the latest Pirate to enter the transfer portal.

Seton Hall men’s basketball will see another potential roster change this offseason, as On3’s Joe Tipton reported that sophomore guard Jahseem Felton has entered the transfer portal on Monday evening.

Felton becomes the sixth Pirate to do so, joining junior guard Tajuan Simpkins, freshman forward Najai Hines, sophomore center Godswill Erheriene, junior guard Adam “Budd” Clark and senior forward Jacob Dar.

Felton’s time in South Orange never fully got going. He suffered a torn ACL early in the season, which cut his year short before he could settle into a consistent role.

The injury was a tough setback for both Felton and the Pirates, as he was expected to be one of their rotational pieces this past season.

Appearing in 26 games with eight starts during the 2024-2025 season, Felton averaged 3.5 points and 1.3 rebounds in 16.8 minutes per game. The guard provided depth in the backcourt, shooting 31.4% from the field and 34.6% from three, while also adding 17 assists and eight steals across the season.

Coming into this season, Felton brought energy and depth to head coach Shaheen Holloway’s backcourt. His ability to handle the ball and defend multiple positions made him a strong option off the bench.

But instead, Felton’s season quickly shifted to recovery and rehab. The Pirates had to adjust their rotation without him, which added pressure on other guards to step into larger roles.

With multiple players entering the transfer portal, SHU’s coaching staff will now have to look toward the remaining returning players and potential additions through the portal to fill those gaps and reshape the rotation heading into next season.

The Hall gained an addition on Monday, when Tipton also reported that junior combo guard and Plainfield, N.J. native Simeon Wilcher committed to SHU from Texas not long after entering the transfer portal.

Felton remains a player with clear upside, even after the injury setback. Before going down, he was viewed as someone who could provide depth and energy off the bench.

With more time to fully recover and get back to game speed, his potential next school could give him the chance to show the impact he was expected to have but never got to show this season.
