Seton Hall associate head coach Shaheen Holloway takes St. Peter’s head coaching job

The Seton Hall men’s basketball program was dealt a blow on Tuesday evening, when ZagsBlogs’ Adam Zagoria reported that associate head coach Shaheen Holloway will be leaving to take the head coaching job at Saint Peter’s University. Seton Hall later confirmed the report after Saint Peter’s announced the news on Wednesday.

A 2000 graduate of Seton Hall, where he became the program leader in assists, Holloway returned to South Orange in 2010 alongside head coach Kevin Willard after the two worked together at Iona. Holloway spent eight years on Willard’s staff and played an instrumental role in landing the historic 2014 recruiting class consisting of Isaiah Whitehead, Khadeen Carrington, Desi Rodriguez, Ismael Sanogo, Michael Nzei and Angel Delgado. In 2015, Holloway accomplished what is arguably his crowning achievement as a coach at Seton Hall, successfully aiding Whitehead in his transition from shooting guard to point guard.

Holloway replaces long-time Saint Peter’s head coach John Dunne, who left the program after 12 seasons after accepting the head coaching job at Marist. The search for Holloway’s replacement will begin immediately.
