Women's basketball schedule announced

The 2010-2011 women's basketball schedule was released released on Friday.

The Anne Donovan era of Pirates basketball will begin Nov. 12 in Fort Meyers, Fla., against the Florida Gulf Coast Eagles.

Her debut in Walsh Gymnasium will come in the Hall's second game of the year when the team faces Temple on Nov. 16.

Following the first two games the Pirates host LSU, Massachusetts, and Army in the Anaconda Sports "The Rock" Classic from Nov. 20 to Nov. 23.

The Hall will play in another preseason tournament, the Junkanoo Jam in the Bahamas over Thanksgiving weekend, where they will face the Boston College followed by either Auburn or Sacred Heart.

To finish out the non-conference part of the schedule the Hall play Hofstra, LaSalle, and Rhode Island at Walsh Gymnasium along with traveling to play Delaware State, William and Mary, and Drexel.

The Pirates will start their Big East season on the road against the St. John's Red Storm on Dec. 8. Their first conference home game comes against West Virginia on Jan. 5, 2011.

The rest of the Big East schedule for the Hall consists of home games against Pittsburgh, St. John's, Georgetown, Providence, Marquette, Villanova, and Rutgers to finish the regular season on Feb. 28.

The team will travel to face Syracuse, DePaul, USF, Notre Dame, Cincinnati, Connecticut, and Louisville in addition to their opener against St. John's.

After the regular season the Pirates will travel to Hartford, Conn., to play in the Big East Championships where all of the 16 conference teams will compete.

The BIG EAST Championship will begin on Mar. 4.
