Women's basketball snaps losing streak with win over Nova

The Seton Hall Pirates earned their first conference victory after defeating the Villanova Wildcats on Saturday afternoon, 53-49.

Prior to the game, Seton Hall and Villanova were the last two winless teams in the Big East.

The Pirates broke a nine game losing streak and moved to 1-8 in conference play, 9-13 overall, while the Wildcats fell to 11-9 on the season.

Junior Ebonie Williams broke the Seton Hall single-season trey record after making two from behind the arc, with 11 points on the game.

Sophomore Kandice Green recorded her ninth double-double by posting 20 point and 12 rebounds.

The Pirates held a four point lead heading into halftime, 25-21.

Seton Hall lost the lead early in the second half and trailed the Wildcats until Williams hit a short jumper with less than two minutes left in the game.

Green hit three foul shots in the final 45 seconds to give the Pirates the 51-47 lead, proving to be enough for the Hall to earn the first conference win.

Freshman Terry Green also added a career high 11 points for Seton Hall.

The Pirates shot 45 percent from the floor while Villanova's poor second half shooting dropped their total to 36.5 percent.
