WSOU rocks the "Loudest Thanksgiving"

Seton Hall's radio station, WSOU 89.5 FM, is presenting the "LOUDEST Thanksgiving 2009" concert at the School of Rock on Nov. 28. The concert consists of several metal and post hardcore bands such as In Fear & Faith and In This Moment.

According to WSOU Promotions Director, Jennifer Wilcox, the station usually tries to promote a holiday show every year. This year's happens to be the "LOUDEST Thanksgiving 2009." In the past the station has presented at a "Halloweekend" show at the Starland Ballroom.

"The show was brought to our attention and they were like ‘hey, do you want to help us,'" Wilcox said. "Presenting a show is a way to get our name out there to people who have maybe never heard of us. People who are going to this show will see we are presenting and that these bands are somehow involved in our station and they will be more apt to listen to us."

In addition, WSOU will also have free giveaways at the door and possibly stage announcements between the various bands' sets.

"In order to present the show, I had to talk to promoters, the venue and sometimes the band managers," Wilcox said.

She added that there is not much planning on her end, as she just helps to advertise for the show through the station, on air and on the Web site.

"The LOUDEST Thanksgiving 2009" concert will begin at 7 p.m. with Ambient Ruins. They will be followed by Above All Fallen, Motionless in White, and In Fear & Faith. As In This Moment is headlining, and they will take the stage last at 10 p.m.

Doors will open at 6:30 p.m.

Tickets are available at ticketweb.com and are $13 ahead of time and $15 at the door. Students can also purchase tickets through a link to The LOUDEST Thanksgiving 2009 on the WSOU Web site, www.wsou.net.
