Pirates blanked in season opener

The men's soccer team lost their season opener this week, losing 1-0 against in-state opponent Monmouth University on Tuesday.

The Hawks started the game off quick, taking the first five shots of the game, two of which were on goal.

Pirate keeper Paul McHenry faced a total of 23 shots in the game, saving six of the seven that were on goal.

The lone goal of the game came from the Hawks Chase Barbieri.

In the 80th minute, Barbieri took a pass from R.J. Allen and one-touched it past McHenry.
The Hall only managed to take 8 shots in the game, only putting two on the goal.

Brayan Martinez had a chance to give the Pirates an early lead, when in the 22nd minute he took a shot that hit the post and deflected away from the goal.

The Pirates head to the University of Pennsylvania for an early evening match on Friday.
