Jordan Walker changes course, returns to Seton Hall

After reports came Tuesday of Seton Hall guard Jordan Walker leaving the program, it was confirmed Wednesday that the freshman has decided to return to South Orange. Adam Zagoria tweeted Wednesday afternoon that Seton Hall head coach Kevin Willard said Walker is back on the team. https://twitter.com/AdamZagoria/status/943555160583831553 NJ Advance Media's Jeremy Schneider was the first to report the possibility of Walker's return Wednesday morning, stating that Walker will be on the bench for Seton Hall's game against Wagner Wednesday night. "Jordan is a freshman who is going through it, who has had a tough, tough time just because he has been hurt," Willard said after Seton Hall defeated Wagner 89-68 on Dec. 20. "It was really just a four-hour span where we went through it. Him, his parents and me had a great conversation Tuesday night. It was good for him to hear my thoughts, and I thought it was good to hear his thoughts. "We're glad to have him back. He has a bright future." Walker had to vow he would not let his behavior get in the way of the team's future. https://twitter.com/NJHoopsHaven/status/943349263303618561 Zach Braziller added that Walker had to apologize to the team for the distraction of his departure. https://twitter.com/NYPost_Brazille/status/943565969930309632 Carrington hinted after the Wagner game that listening to the staff will be important for Walker going forward. "Just staying focused," Carrington said on what Walker needs to do. "Right now he's coming off an injury. He's got to stay focused, trust coach, trust us, listen to what we say." Not hitting the court in his first game back from thumb injury against Rutgers on Dec. 16 was reportedly the trigger that set Walker off to leave the team, according to Carino. A source told The Setonian that Walker's parents and his high school coach, Chris Chavannes, helped talk Walker out of leaving Seton Hall. 247Sports' Andrew Slater previously reported that Walker's parents were involved in their son's return to the program. Walker's parents also met with someone from Seton Hall to discuss what Walker had to do to remain in the program, the source added. After a whirlwind 24 hours, Walker did not hit the court Wednesday against Wagner, but he was dressed to play on the bench. Walker has not practiced with the team recently, so the plan was to keep him out of the game. Elizabeth Swinton can be reached at elizabeth.swinton@student.shu.edu or on Twitter @eswint22.
