Public relations and marketing department wins awards

The Department of Public Relations and Marketing at Seton Hall University has received five awards from two different national program competitions: the 2017 Collegiate Advertising Awards and the 33rd Annual Educational Advertising Awards, sponsored by Higher Ed Marketing Report. In previous years, the department has been recognized for different awards from the same two entities. Last year, the department was recognized for their marketing efforts for the University’s annual graduate open house with a Gold Award for Integrated Marketing from Educational Advertising Awards and a Silver Award from Collegiate Advertising Awards. I would love if more people on campus knew about the outstanding work that comes out of the Department of Public Relations and Marketing.” Linda Karten, the senior director of Integrated Marketing at Seton Hall since 2011, described the criteria that both entities look for in projects. “The awards are given to campaigns that accomplish the communications objectives their college and university sponsors set out to reach in innovative and effective ways,” she said. In addition to the awards from the 2017 Collegiate Advertising Awards and the 33rd Annual Educational Advertising Awards, the department has won awards from the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE), amongst others. Karten provided additional information on other received recognitions. “We have been recognized for past projects including our A Whole Lot More Than Basketball commercial in 2017,” Karten said. “The 30 and 60 second ads, produced by Pittsburgh-based Awesome Films, ran on Fox Sports during the men’s basketball games and on the jumbo screen at the Prudential Center.” Dan Kalmanson, the associate vice president for Public Relations and Marketing, who oversees marketing, publications, web and digital communications, media relations and special events for the University commented, “I am very proud of the high quality print and digital communications that our office produces for the University. It is a great honor for us to help communicate the Seton Hall story and what makes this University so special with prospective students and their families.” Rhania Kamel can be reached at rhania.kamel@student.shu.edu.
