Remaining tournament teams show sport’s diversity

With one week of March Madness finished, the nation is down to 16 teams vying for the National Championship. Out of the remaining colleges in the tournament, 12 hail from small markets or from towns that are more than 100 miles from a city with a professional sports team. However, these colleges are finding representation at the national level despite the small-markets in which they play, as their accomplishments are redefining the economic and social construction of their hometowns.

Pirates continue winning ways with successful weekend

The Seton Hall Pirates baseball team came away with two crucial victories over the weekend, defeating Wagner, 10-0, and Monmouth, 12-2. The two wins slowly climb the team back into contention after a lackluster start, as the Pirates now sit at 6-12.

Women’s Basketball concludes regular season as WNIT begins

Despite going .500 for the second straight year, finishing out the 2018-19 campaign at 15-15, the women’s basketball team was invited to the WNIT once again after appearing in the tournament in 2018. The Pirates will travel to Ohio to face Toledo in the first round after an up and down regular season.

McKnight to take on prominent role in first NCAA Tournament appearance

Two years ago, Quincy McKnight made the decision to venture out of his home state for the first time in his basketball career. Leaving a school where he was the undisputed star of the team to take a step up in competition was a risk, but a necessary one for McKnight to get a chance at opportunities like the one he will have when Seton Hall takes the floor on Thursday night.

Seton Hall students weigh in on NCAA Tournament

Hitting its stride two weeks ago during a time that was sink or swim, the Seton Hall men’s basketball team firmly secured one of the 34 at-large tickets to the NCAA Tournament. The Pirates received a 10-seed, much to the skepticism and dismay of many. On Thursday, Seton Hall will face one of the nation’s hottest teams – the No. 7-seeded Wofford Terriers.

Willard prepares for first-round dogfight

JACKSONVILLE – Kevin Willard is becoming a tournament regular. His 10th-seeded Pirates boarded a chartered flight for Jacksonville, Fla., on Tuesday night – the first of many distinctions between this preparation and the build-up to his first NCAA Tournament as a head coach in 2016.
