Johannsdottir finding footing with women’s soccer

In Sept. 2, Seton Hall women’s soccer’s goalkeeper Harpa Johannsdottir was named the Big East Freshman of the Week. She received the honor alongside Offensive Player of the Week Macy Miller of Georgetown, Defensive Player of the Week Meaghan Nally of Georgetown and Goalkeeper of the Week Maddy Henry of Marquette.

Pirates fall to Leigh for third straight loss

The Seton Hall men’s soccer team continued its road trip on Saturday as they travelled to Bethlehem, Pennsylvania to take on Lehigh. The game resulted in a 1-0 loss for the Pirates, and the defeat puts Seton Hall at a 1-3 record overall and extends its losing streak to three games.

Siena squeeze by Pirates

The Seton Hall women’s soccer team dropped a close score, 2-1, to Siena on Thursday to drop the team’s record to 1-3 on the year. The loss comes after losing the previous match, 1-0, against Long Island University. In the first three games of the season, the Pirates have scored the same number of goals that took six games last year.

Pirates take 3rd in tournament

It was nearly exactly a year ago to the date that the Seton Hall men’s golf team registered a 4th place finish at the Alex Lagowitz Memorial Tournament in upstate Hamilton, New York. They were headed in their efforts by a freshman playing in his first ever collegiate tournament --  Devin Ramachandran, whose heady play landed him in a tie for fourth place on the leaderboards, the top number for any Pirate in the tournament.

It’s never an easy task to overcome the loss of seniors who made up most of a team’s production, including one outside hitter who finished in the top five in school history for kills. Head volleyball coach Allison Yaeger is now tasked with mixing a strong freshman class with some returning veterans in order to guide this year’s team to success.

The Seton Hall Pirates Volleyball team defeated the Iona Gaels tonight in straight sets, 25-21, 25-22, and 25-13, picking up their second win of the season and rebounding after a tough weekend that saw them lose three of four matches.

On Sunday afternoon, veteran driver and former champion Kevin Harvick stormed to victory in NASCAR’s Brickyard 400 at the famed Indianapolis Motor Speedway after a late battle with fan favorite Joey Logano. Late drama further back saw the final two playoff spots change hands in a crash-filled slugfest of a race, one of the sport’s feature events.
