Dean Hobbs speaks on Seton Hall's new student section

The student section at a college basketball game can often be a scary place. The Cameron Crazies at Duke and the Rock Chalk Jayhawk faithful of Kansas have become a thing of legend in the history of college hoops. Opposing players fear it, while home fans embrace it. Some fans just try and stay away in fear of personal injury. One thing, however, is for sure: the student section in college basketball plays a pivotal role in the home court advantage.

Win solidifies tournament berth

The Seton Hall volleyball team clinched their second straight trip to the Big East tournament over the weekend with a 3-0 (25-14, 25-16, 25-18) win over DePaul, on Saturday. The win against the Blue Devils was their seventh conference win, which tied the school record set in 1994.

Paradise Jam next for Pirates

The early-season challenges for the men's basketball team and new head coach Kevin Willard are set to continue this weekend, as the Pirates head to the 2010 Paradise Jam for three games – potentially all against major conference opponents.

Women fall in Florida

In a game of debuts, the Seton Hall Women's Basketball team fell 64- 57 to Florida- Gulf Coast in their season opener on Friday night in Fort Myers, denying head coach Anne Donovan a win in her first game as the head coach at Seton Hall.

New head coach Anne Donovan and the women's basketball team have a daunting task facing them Friday night as they open their season in Fort Myers, Fla., against Florida Gulf Coast, who went 13-0 on their home court, Alico Arena, last year.

Pirates lose golden opportunity

With a chance to clinch a spot in the Big East Conference Tournament, the volleyball team lost to the Marquette Golden Eagles, 3-2, on Sunday after defeating Syracuse on Saturday, 3-1. The loss puts the Pirates in sixth place in the Big East with a 12-16 overall record and 6-6 in conference matches.

Volleyball moves into playoff picture

The volleyball team won their second consecutive match by defeating St. John's, 3-2, on Sunday, (25-13, 27-25, 16-25, 16-25, 15-13), putting the teams record at 10-14 overall and 4-4 in the Big East.
