SO mayor teaches how ordinances are passed

In the fall semester of last year, Seton Hall launched a new course, Strategic Management for Collaborative Governance, offered to students seeking their Master’s degree in public administration. The course is taught by Dr. Matthew Hale, Associate Professor and MPA Program Chair for the Department of Political Science and Public Affairs, and Alex Torpey, president of South Orange Village and now also adjunct professor of government and technology at Seton Hall. Dr. Hale reached out to Torpey with the idea for the course after they met at an event on campus last year.

Students at risk for identity theft, be wary

The worries on every college student’s mind typically involve graduation, employment and of course, paying off student loans. But recent statistics show that college-age students are more likely to be the victims of identity theft than any other age group.

Government insists on sexual assault awareness survey

The Campus Climate Survey has been recently circulating to Seton Hall students via e-mail and at first glance, readers may not realize how important a topic it is. The survey is part of a government initiative to get colleges and universities talking about sexual assault and violence on campus.

Obama’s college plan not to largely affect SHU

In 2012, 71 percent of all students (about 1.3 million undergraduates) graduating from four-year colleges had student loan debt, according to The Project on Student Debt at the Institute for College Access and Success.

On-campus internships offered

It is no surprise that Seton Hall is known for providing students with incredible internships off campus in great places such as New York City. However, a lot of students do not realize that they could gain career experience right on campus.

Snow day setbacks:

Seton Hall has been closed for almost all of the past three Mondays. One closing, Martin Luther King, Jr. Day on Jan. 19, was scheduled, but the other one and a half closings were due to severe weather conditions. In total, there have been two and a half closings due to weather this semester.
