Malcolm Luther is a stage name for Jakeem Easter, a 19-year-old from Maryland trying to change the world through his music. He coined the name to honor two of his role models: Malcolm X and Martin Luther King Jr.

Learning beyond the classroom

The Student Disability Awareness Club at Seton Hall University has been working on raising awareness about students with disabilities through “hands-on awareness” events, according to Gill Sharp, a junior biochemistry and biology double major, who is the club’s vice president.

Rubin finds balance between sports and school

Ashani Rubin admitted she wasn’t entirely sure which one of the Manthorpe twins recruited her to play volleyball nearly seven years ago while at Merion Mercy Academy in Merion, Pa. It was her sophomore year at Merion, and she decided to give volleyball a try. By her senior year, she was a regular on a varsity squad that included the Manthorpe twins and finished 40-0 on the way to a state championship. It was during that year that the Seton Hall coaching staff recruited Rubin along with the twins.

Win a date for diabetes

Alpha Gamma Delta will host its fourth annual Date for Diabetes on Nov. 12 at 8 p.m. The event will help benefit the international women’s fraternity philanthropy: The “Date for Diabetes is a bachelor auction in which male Seton Hall students will be auctioned off – he and the lucky lady will have the opportunity to enjoy an ice cream social in the back of the room,” Priscilla Wu, sister of Alpha Gamma Delta, said. Each bachelor also comes with a small gift for the woman who wins, Wu said.

In today’s fast-paced society, trends come and go so fast it’s hard to keep your wardrobe up- to-date. So what do you do when you no longer want your old clothes? Well, your clothes can have an afterlife and upcycling them is an efficient way to put them to good use.

Every state has its own little shops, sayings and quirks that make it unique. DOVE raises awareness for homeless

From Nov. 16 through Nov. 21, the Division of Volunteer Efforts (DOVE) will bring National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week to Seton Hall. The effort was established by the National Coalition for the Homeless to promote education, action and awareness about hunger and homelessness.

Spreading kindness and love is an important part of Thanksgiving that allows families and friends to come together and help the community.
