Softball’s Katey Brennan earns BIG EAST Player of the Week after impressive batting at Villanova

The junior outfielder led Seton Hall with a big weekend at the plate.

On Monday, Seton Hall softball junior outfielder Katey Brennan was named the BIG EAST Player of the Week after a strong stretch at the plate for the Pirates (15-23, 5-13 BIG EAST).

Brennan helped lead The Hall during their recent road series against Villanova this past week. She had multiple hits in each of the final two games of the series, helping the Pirates earn back-to-back wins after dropping the series opener.

Brennan was on fire the entire week, batting .765 with an .810 on-base percentage across five games. She went 13-for-17 overall, with three walks, two home runs and six RBIs, putting together one of the best stretches of her season and career.

This season, Brennan has been one of the team’s most consistent hitters. She is batting .386 with 44 hits, 20 RBI and three home runs. The Yardley, Pennsylvania native has also scored 22 runs and continues to be a key piece near the top of the Pirates’ batting order.

Brennan recorded three hits in the series opener at Villanova on April 10, then followed it with two hits in each of the final two games the next two days. In the series finale on April 12, she added a home run and three RBI to help seal a 4-0 win.

The award marks a big milestone for Brennan and shows her impact on the team’s recent success. She joins a growing list of Pirates who have earned conference recognition this season.

The Pirates will return to action on April 15 when they host Fairleigh Dickinson for a doubleheader at Mike Sheppard Sr. Field.
