During the 2026 RedHawk Invitational in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, junior Will Hennessee posted a career-best round to help Seton Hall’s men’s golf team move up the leaderboard to take third place on Tuesday.
The Pirates were eighth going into the final round, but played the best round of the day, shooting a 7-under 277 to jump five places.
With Hennessee leading the way, SHU finished at six under par with rounds of 283, 286 and 277 for a total of 846.
Hennessee started the day tied for 36th, but shot a career-best 7-under 64 with nine birdies and seven pars. He climbed into seventh place individually and shot a 5-under 208 for three rounds.
His 64 ties for second-best relative-to-par round in program history. It is the second time since Lloyd Jefferson Go shot a 64 at the Rutherford Intercollegiate in 2017 that a SHU player has done so.
The performance gave Hennessee his fifth career top10 finish, and second in a row, after coming out in a top10 at the first tournament of the 2026-27 season. Hennessee shot a tournament-low 208.
It is also Hennessee's seventh tournament below par during his SHU career. The Pirate wasn't alone in shooting under par.
Senior Jacob De Jesus had another good tournament to begin his SHU career. In the final round, he shot a 1-under 70. He made three birdies and 13 pars, finishing 12th after shooting 2-under 211 in rounds of 70, 71 and 70.
It is De Jesus' second tournament in a row in which he has shot under par.
Sophomore Blake Goodnight finished tied for 20th after shooting rounds of 71, 71 and 72 for a total of 214. Goodnight shot two birdies in the final round to help move SHU up the leaderboard.
Freshman Dylan Holmes was close behind. Holmes shot an even-par 71 with three birdies and 12 pars. He finished the tournament shooting five over par with rounds of 75, 72 and 71.
Junior Luke Nolan was one stroke behind Holmes, shooting 70 and 72 in the first two rounds before finishing with a 77 in the final round.
Isaiah Williams competed as an individual in the tournament and shot three over par 74 in the final round. He also shot a 67 in the second round, one of the lowest rounds among Pirates in the tournament.
Seton Hall's 277 in the final round is the second-best team score on a par-71 course in program history. The team’s tournament total of 846 was the second-best in program history in a three-round tournament on a par-71 course. .
The championship belonged to VCU, which shot 15 under par. Butler, another BIG EAST opponent, finished in second place shooting at 8-under, two strokes ahead of SHU.
Brooks and Burns of Butler and Oakland, respectively, tied for first at nine under par.
SHU climbed five spots on the leaderboard to take third place in the tournament. The Pirates return to action Saturday at the Macdonald Cup, hosted by Yale at Yale Golf Course in New Haven, Connecticut.
