University to pivot to remote learning temporarily

Seton Hall will switch temporarily to remote learning for the month of January, a Thursday announcement from the Health Intervention Communication Team said.

Classes will be moved to a virtual format through January 31. The semester’s classes begin on January 19.

The move came as a response to the spread of the Omicron variant of COVID-19.

Residence halls will open, as scheduled on January 16. Students will be required to test negative for COVID-19 via a PCR or antigen test, according to the announcement. At-home tests will not be accepted. Anyone who cannot show a negative result from a test taken in the days before arrival on campus will not be allowed to move in.

Certain in-person laboratory and clinical experiences are exempt from this remote modality and will be conducted in-person, the announcement said.

It is currently unclear how student programs or athletics will be affected.

This is a breaking story. Stay tuned for updates.
