The Seton Hall women’s golf team won The Charge, a nine-team tournament at Quail Valley Golf Club in Littlestown, Pennsylvania, on Tuesday.
The Pirates shot 25 over par to defeat Lehigh by just two strokes. The victory comes after the Nittany Lion Invitational, where the Pirates shot 52 over par to place 15th out of 18.
Junior Marta Aguila led the bounceback, shooting one over par to lead all 54 golfers. She shot on or below par on 45 of 54 holes and was the only golfer to finish on par in multiple rounds.
Below Aguilar was sophomore Isabella Stewart, who shot third-highest in the tournament at seven over par. She led the Pirates in score at the Nittany Lion Invitational, and continued her consistency by shooting no more than four over par in every round.
Senior Renee Ree shot eight over par, which was tied for sixth-highest in the tournament. She finished round two on par and was tied for first in pars with 38.
Senior Kasumi Tran shot nine over par, the fourth pirate to finish top 10 in scoring. She was tied for third in birdies with nine, and tied for second with Aguilar in averaging 4.83 strokes on par fives.
Freshman Gia Vitelli debuted for the team, shooting 19 over par in her first two collegiate rounds, but bouncing back in round three with seven over par and two birdies.
Next, the Pirates will play in the 13-team Princeton Invitational at Springdale Golf Club on Sept. 26 and 27.
