Shaheen Holloway agrees to six-year contract extension

Following a bounce-back 2025-26 season, the Pirates have rewarded head coach Shaheen Holloway with a contract extension.

Seton Hall men’s basketball has reportedly agreed to a six-year contract extension with head coach Shaheen Holloway

The extension comes after Holloway led one of college basketball’s biggest turnarounds during the 2025-26 season. Just one year after the Pirates finished with a 7-25 record, SHU surprised the nation, going 21-12 and putting up a strong fight against top Big East teams.

Since returning to his alma mater in 2022, Holloway has faced the challenge of rebuilding the roster year after year through the transfer portal. That trend continued this offseason, with the Pirates once again replacing the majority of their roster for the 2026-2027 season.

Holloway holds a 70-65 record as SHU’s head coach, leading the Pirates to a 17-16 finish in 2022-23, followed by a 25-12 record and the 2024 NIT championship in 2023-24. After a difficult 7-25 season in 2024-25, Holloway guided SHU back to a winning 21-12 record last season.

Now entering the 2026-27 season with another rebuilt roster, Holloway will look to repeat his success. As he said at the 2025 Big East Media Day, "I couldn't care less about what others think—I know who I've got when it's game time.”
