Mike Williams commits to Tulsa out of transfer portal

After one season in South Orange, Williams joins a program fresh off a deep postseason run.

After entering the transfer portal on April 14, Seton Hall men’s basketball junior guard Mike Williams is headed to Tulsa for the 2026-2027 season.

Williams transferred to SHU before this past season after spending two years in the SEC at LSU. Williams quickly became a piece of the Pirates’ rotation, starting 30 games while averaging 7.0 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 1.5 assists per game.

Williams showed flashes throughout the season as a scorer and was one of the Pirates’ top perimeter shooters. Williams scored a season-high 16 points at UConn on Jan.13, 14 points against NC State on Nov. 24 and 13 points against USC the next day. His scoring ability this season showed he can play against tough competition.

Williams now joins a Tulsa program coming off an impressive 30-8 season. The Golden Hurricanes’ season ended in heartbreaking fashion with a 92-86 overtime loss to Auburn in the NIT Championship game on April 5.

Williams now heads to a program with momentum entering next season, while his exit from The Hall adds to an already long list of players to have left the program in the portal.
