Global biopharmaceutical company Bristol Myers Squibb donated two batches of lab equipment to Seton Hall, Vice President of University Advancement Jon Paparsenos wrote in an email to the university community Thursday.
This donation will strengthen the university’s research capabilities, impacting 2,000 undergraduate and graduate students who use laboratory spaces on the South Orange campus. It will specifically benefit biology students in the College of Arts and Sciences.
Paparsenos said the gift supports SHU’s For All, Forever campaign’s third pillar, Strengthening Our Cornerstones, which focuses on growing endowed positions and research initiatives that attract talent and drive discovery.
Donations include two dozen advanced research instruments, cell imaging microscopes, DNA analysis systems, centrifuges, incubators and specialized cold-storage units, pipette tips, culture plates, cryogenic storage vials and other research materials that allow students and faculty to conduct experiments, according to a university-issued press release.
“On behalf of President Monsignor Joseph R. Reilly and Seton Hall University, I extend our gratitude to Bristol Myers Squibb for this generous gift, which will expand opportunities for students to engage in meaningful research,” Paparsenos wrote.
