After delivering one of the most memorable performances of the BIG EAST Women’s Basketball Tournament in recent history, Seton Hall senior guard / forward Jordana Codio was named to the All-Tournament Team, the Pirates’ Instagram announced on March 10.
This accomplishment recognizes her standout performances during the Pirates’ postseason run, as Codio led third-seeded SHU to a close 63-61 victory over sixth-seeded St. John’s in the quarterfinal round of the BIG EAST Tournament by scoring a career-high 35.
The guard / forward shot 13-for-23 (57%) from the field and knocked down six of nine (67%) 3-pointers. Her offensive performance helped guide the Pirates to the tournament semifinals against the second-seeded Villanova.
Their tournament run ultimately came to an end in a 62-48 loss to the Wildcats. Codio scored a team-high 13 points, although she struggled to get a clean shot due to Villanova’s game plan.
The senior shot 4-for-16 (25%) from the field in the matchup against Villanova, but even with an inefficient night, her impact throughout the tournament was still recognized across the conference by coaches and media.
Codio has become the fifth Pirate in the last two decades to be picked for this selection, joining the likes of former Pirates Lauren Park-Lane (2022, 2023), Shadeem Samuels (2020), Shakena Richardson (2016), Ka-Deidre Simmons (2014, 2015), and Dana Wynna (1996).
Codio also set the record for the second most points in a BIG EAST Tournament game in program history in a BIG EAST Tournament. She only trailsLauren Park-Lane, who scored 36 points against the Creighton Bluejays in 2023.
Pirates Head Coach Anthony Bozzella gave Codio a massive hug after her performance against St. John’s and his comments earlier in the week calling her a “true winner.”
“I coached her mother, her mother is a winner. Her dad coached me, he’s a winner,” Bozzella said. “I knew she would play her best game when we needed her to and she did.”
During the tournament, Codio delivered in critical moments when her team needed her to. Whether she had to create a shot of her own or attack the basket and draw fouls, she kept Seton Hall’s offense alive with much-needed offensive sparks throughout their postseason run.
Although the Pirates did not reach the championship game, Codio has cemented her place in program history with a memorable postseason moment and noteworthy accomplishment in her senior season as a Pirate.
The Hall now turns their attention to Selection Sunday on March 15, when they will learn if they have earned a chance to extend their season.
