Well, you should. Especially if you’re trend tracking the eight day stretch of New York Fashion Week, considering one of the greatest fashion icons of all time spoke those very words. Carrie. Bradshaw. The fashion was even higher than the expectations for Spring 2016. Now if you would join me on a strut down the runway of the NYFW rundown, we will dive in to the collections. Kate Spade, Diane von Furstenberg, Jenny Packham, Zimmermann and additional designers took a swing at florals. Miranda Priestly would say, “Florals? For Spring? Groundbreaking.” The florals, created to take the place of a traditional bow on Kate Spade garments and to wear behind the ear to compliment the whimsical garments of Diane von Furstenberg, were beautiful. But Zimmermann’s collection was the one to truly enchant. Lacey, frilly, these garments are fit for tea with the Queen! Zimmermann combines the charm of girlhood with the glamour of adulthood. In other words: To. Die. For. Cascading down the catwalk to the beat of much different design inspirations, I presume that Mara Hoffman’s collection inspired adventure. This line made you want to throw your hands up and shout to the point where you pray for braids as gorgeous as her models. Hoffman’s garments brought you around the world to display various landscapes and skies, but brought you right back to New York, where any of these designs could be flaunted on the pavement. Now, for the collection that was not a six-inch heel below thrilling: Givenchy. The lace and silk was marvelous while the feathers were pure beauty. The strapless black gown with fur is what it means when people say dreams come true. The masks—yes masks—were incredible. Mimicking the texture of the masks, the gowns were magnificent, but not overpowering. The lines of the body were center to the beauty of the entire look. The fashion for spring 2016 will be fierce.
