Seton Hall women’s soccer were unable to snap a six game-winless streak as they settled for a scoreless tie after against Villanova University on Sunday afternoon.

The Pirates had multiple opportunities to take the lead in their final road game of the regular season. Sophomore Frankie Maier had a chance to score in the 102nd minute of the first overtime with a goal attempt that was stopped by Wildcats goal keeper Emma Meyer. Earlier the blue and white had an opportunity in the 89th minute of the second half. Junior Amanda Gulli found her attempt blocked by Meyer, who recorded seven saves in the match.
The Pirates were the more aggressive team after halftime, holding a ten to five edge in shot attempts and getting the better looks on the day. The Pirates’ defense was able to limit scoring opportunities against their sophomore goalkeeper Illissa Blackshear. Blackshear matched her career-high with eight saves on the game. Two of her saves came within the 76th minute after stopping both Wildcat’s Kaitlin Hogman and Jessica Moskal. Senior Kristina Meier had a chance to score early in the game with a 10th minute shot attempt that was blocked by Meyer.
The draw is the fifth on the year for the blue and white, who remain winless in conference play (0-4-3) and are 3-8-5 this season. Sunday’s game also saw women’s soccer shut out for eleventh time. The Hall will finish the regular season at home with a meeting against St. John’s on Saturday, Oct. 25 and Georgetown on Halloween-Friday, Oct. 31.
Kick-off for the Hall’s match with St. John’s is set for 4 p.m.
