The Seton Hall Women’s Tennis team delivered a strong performance against St. Joseph’s on Friday, winning all three doubles matches and earning six singles victories. The Pirates’ skill and consistency secured wins across nearly every court.
The Pirates opened the match dominantly in doubles, winning all three courts. Jaden Davidson and Kira Farrakhova secured a 6-2 victory over Elena Fleming and June Tronhus on Court 1, giving SHU an early advantage.
Imogen Brooker and Ellie Coe followed with a 6-3 win against Victoria Tracey and Jolie Kaiser on Court 2.
Rachel Benoualid and Niamh Campbell completed the doubles sweep with a 6-1 victory over Amari O’Brien and Valeria Casusol on Court 3.
SHU held momentum throughout singles play, with Farrakhova earning an impressive victory over Tracey, 6-1, 6-1. Anastasia Sereda also recorded a clean win, defeating Fleming 6-1, 6-3. Both players maintained consistent control, widening SHU’s advantage.
Davidson fought a competitive match against Casusol to earn a 6-4, 7-5 victory. Sofia Segui added another easy win for the Pirates, defeating O’Brien 6-3, 6-2.
These victories further strengthened SHU’s position as the team continued to find success across the singles lineup.
Brooker secured a comeback victory over Tronhus after dropping the opening set 6-3. Brooker responded with a dominant 6-1 second-set win before taking the match in a 10-6 tiebreaker. Her ability to recover after the opening set showed great resilience for the Pirates.
Benoualid added to the Pirates’ singles success with an 8-3 victory over Evelyn Mehia, contributing another point to SHU’s overall performance.
Campbell closed the day with a close loss to Kaiser. After a 7-6 opening set, Campbell dropped the second set 6-1, with the final tiebreaker recorded at 4-7.
With a clean sweep in doubles and six singles victories, SHU delivered a strong performance against St. Joseph’s. The Pirates’ dominance and consistency made for a successful day on the court.
