Resch named First Team All-American as men’s soccer receives more postseason honors

The Pirates' list of postseason achievements continues with United Soccer Coaches honors.

After receiving All-BIG EAST honors last month, Seton Hall men’s soccer continued its list of postseason achievements this week with two players named to the United Soccer Coaches All-East Region Second Team and another named to both the All-East First Team and 2025 NCAA Division I Men’s All-America First Team.

The first of these players is sophomore forward Mikkel Lejbowicz, who was named to the All-East Region Second Team in his first season as a Pirate after transferring from the University of Maryland.

The Danish left-winger was productive on the offensive end for the Pirates this season, netting seven goals and collecting 15 points. Lejbowicz also led the team in both shots and shots on goal with 36 and 15, respectively.

Just behind Lejbowicz was fellow sophomore Til Kauschke, who had 32 shots, with 14 being on goal. The German midfielder also received All-East Region honors, being named to the first team. In his second season as a Pirate, Kauschke scored a career-high four goals and led the team with four assists on the season.

With Lejbowicz’ seven goals and one assist, and Kauschke recording four of each, both led the team in goal contributions— Kauschke and Lejbowicz both led the team in goal contributions— highlighting how well the duo play today in their respective roles on the pitch.

Despite impressive offensive performances by both sophomores, however, the most impressive player this season was senior defender Agustin Resch.

In addition to being named the 2025 BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Year, the Argentine was named to the All-East Region First Team as well as the All-America First Team.

But the honors don’t end there: on the same day All-Region teams were announced, Resch was announced as one of fifteen semi-finalists for the MAC Hermann Trophy—the top award for NCAA soccer players.

He was also invited to the 2025 MLS College Showcase, which is a scouting event that allows for coaches, managers, and scouts of MLS clubs to view some of the top collegiate talent ahead of the MLS Superdraft on December 18th.

Resch’s historic season has been one of improved offense:  he recorded three goals and three assists, both of which were career-highs for him, as well as the most of any SHU defender this season.

But more important was his defensive performance: he anchored the Pirates’ nationally ranked defensive line, which recorded eight clean sheets this season—two of which were draws against nationally ranked teams. His aerial superiority and skillful positioning were invaluable to the Pirates this season.

Resch has also grown as both a player and a leader over his three years in South Orange. From 2023 to 2025, he more than tripled the number of minutes he played for the team. This season, Resch also joined fellow senior defender Liam Guske as co-captain of the team, indicating the trust the team and head coach Andreas Lindberg has in him.

“Over his three years with us, Agustin has grown not only as a player, but as a person and a leader, culminating in this honor that few Pirates have ever received,” Lindberg said in SHU Athletics’ announcement of Resch’s All-American First Team selection. “He is a shining example of what players can become when they choose to join Seton Hall and take advantage of the opportunities our program offers.”
