The overcast looming over September’s end isn’t just a reminder that sweater weather is here but that Seton Hall’s annual fall break is right around the corner.
Angelo Vitale, a freshman in the JD Law program, said he is traveling 27 miles to Old Bridge, New Jersey to spend time with family. He said he anticipates filling the long weekend by “spending quality time with friends and family and going on relaxing walks.”
Vitale also said he is excited about fall favorites like the Starbucks pumpkin spice latte and Halloween.
Laila Miller, a freshman interactive multimedia and design major, said she plans to travel back home to Brooklyn to visit family and friends.
“I’m looking forward to destressing this break by catching up on my comfort shows like ‘Scandal’ and playing video games like ‘The Sims,’” Miller said.
Miller added that she is excited to attend Fright Fest, an annual event held at Six Flags.
Many students celebrate this fall break from campus and find joy in the activities near the surrounding South Orange town.
Alexandria Hall, a freshman political science major, said she is excited to celebrate her boyfriend's birthday during the break, enjoying the nearby shopping areas.
“I’m excited about enjoying the seasonal apple cider doughnuts and activities like apple picking and making pumpkin pie,” Hall said.
Hall added that she defines self-care with her love of staying active, fitting workouts into her school life and going to the Walsh gym.
Hall and Miller said their peers caught the infamous “college flu.”
While the college flu is akin to a common cold, this fall break offers many students a chance to care for their mental and physical health.
