Remember to reflect and finish the year out strong

We’re in the home stretch now, Pirates! It’s officially the week after Easter break, and we all know what that means: sunny skies, lounging on the Green and everyone’s favorite: finals.

We at The Setonian think that it can be universally agreed upon that finals during spring semesters are so, so much worse than finals during fall semesters. After all, it’s beautiful out, and the last thing any of us want to be doing is studying for tests and writing papers for classes that we all wish were over already (no matter how great some of the professors are).

Nevertheless, we all have to power through and finish the semester out strong. To Seton Hall’s Class of 2019, The Setonian salutes you. College is hard, but you did the darn thing. So be proud of that GPA, whatever it is, because you did it. To everyone returning to campus in the fall, keep going; that degree will be worth it in the end when all your classes are done.

As the year comes to a close, The Setonian’s editorial board has been reflecting on an eventful year filled with all kinds of news. From the Concerned 44 and the investigation into sex abuse in the Catholic Church to LGBTQ events on campus and the NCAA Tournament to just this last week when former Seton Hall adjunct professor Marc Lamparello was arrested for attempted arson at Saint Patrick’s Cathedral. It has been quite the year.

We are eternally grateful to the SHU student body and administration for keeping things interesting and keeping involved. There would be no paper without you. The Setonian would also like to dedicate this week’s Voice to Myles Mislavsky, who the Seton Hall community lost in September.

Reflecting on our year is what bring us to our final piece of advice for everyone at Seton Hall for this week’s Voice: look back on this past academic year, realize all you did wrong, but also all you did right. Give yourself a pat on the back because like we said, college is hard, but also evaluate your strengths and weaknesses so that you can come back even stronger next year.

So, thank you again to everyone here at SHU, and remember to finish this year out strong.
