‘Pasta’bilities are endless

This school year, the Gourmet Dining Services (GDS) at Seton Hall University have made many upgrades to the cafeteria, as well as the commuter cafeteria, and the brand new café in Jubilee. Students have had positive reactions to the dining hall changes. In regards to the updates, Harrison Burns, a sophomore english major said, “the overall upgrades by Gourmet Dining Services, as compared to the dining services last year, have already provided me with a variety of really great options which I take advantage of every day. I think that the addition of a new pasta station in the caf is one of many steps in the right direction that Seton Hall has taken in providing its students with more enjoyable food choices, and I am very excited to try it out in the Spring!” Michelle Pan agreed with Harrison in that the upgrades to the dining hall are fantastic. She said that the changes, “allowed Gourmet Dining Services to implement things that Student Government has been pushing for, like continuous dining. The additional equipment and space also allows GDS to provide students with fresh food made to order like the sushi station and kiosks students can order from.” The changes have made students happier and provided them with a larger variety of food to choose from. This pasta station will be a part of the featured dining selection in the residential cafeteria. Although currently there is no exact menu, it will be different from the station where you can make your own pasta. There will a wider and more unique variety of options. Originally, this idea was not a part of the Gourmet Dining Services upgrades. The inspiration came from Rider University, where they recently opened up Viva La Pasta, and it was a huge hit, so Seton Hall decided to try it out as well as a part of their developments. Cece Pateman, a sophomore and elementary education major, is a vegan. She loves the new options this year as they are very beneficial to her eating style. “I always go to the vegan station and the tex-mex station to get rice and beans,” Pateman said. “I also love the new vegan pizza, vegan pancake section, and the cold noodles during lunch time. The men working at the sushi station are super nice and make avocado and cucumber sushi if I ask for it! I am really looking forward to the new pasta station as a part of my options!” Overall, students have really been enjoying these upgrades and are looking forward to the featured pasta station and the array of options soon to be available in the spring.
