The Seton Hall men's soccer team snapped a 10-game winless streak Monday night after defeating Army 1-0 on the road at West Point, N.Y.
The Pirates (1-1-1) entered the game without starting freshman Kai Greene and team captain senior Joe Baker who were serving a one match ban for having received two yellow cards apiece in the team's previous game against Delaware.
Seton Hall's loan tally came in the 33rd minute when junior Adriano Gabriele converted a penalty kick. Both of Gabriele's goals this season have come on penalty kicks and the Pirates as a team have only scored four total goals, but have not recorded an assist.
Sophomore Anthony Reichwaldt was pelted with shots all game as he made seven saves on Army's 20 total shots. The win and the shutout were both firsts for his career at Seton Hall.
The Pirates a team recorded 12 shots, only three of which were on goal. Sophomore Max Garcia led the team in shots with six and Gabriele added two of his own.
Freshman Konrad Plewa will sit out the Pirates' next matchup after receiving a straight red card in the 54th minute of play.
The Pirates meet their next opponent this Friday, September 9 as they face Boston University on the road.
