Communications Dept. hosts "Major Party"

Interested in learning about how to prepare for your career? Then come out to “A Major Party” on Friday Oct. 3 on the lawn behind Fahy Hall from noon until 4 p.m.

Hosted by the Department of Communications and The Arts, “A Major Party” provides the opportunity for students to explore the clubs that help build skills pertinent to their fields and to meet new people including peers, upperclassmen and faculty.

Senior Public Relations major John Esmeraldino is helping to assist with the event.

“The focus of ‘A Major Party’ is on ensuring that students get the classroom and real-world experience to prepare them for excellent jobs,” Esmeraldino said.

Students gain knowledge and experience in their fields through the variety of clubs and organizations that are available to them on campus. As a member of these functions, students also network with their peers who have similar interests and career goals. These clubs and organizations include PirateTV, Public Relations Student Society of America, the campus radio station WSOU, Film Society, Theatre Council and The Setonian.

While students learn about the different clubs and organizations that they can join, “A Major Party” is an event that also serves other platforms.

“At ‘A Major Party’ students will be able to learn about the department’s majors and minors and to connect with the Career Center regarding internships and jobs,” Esmeraldino said.

The Career Center will be available to answer any questions that students have about how Seton Hall graduates achieve full-time positions in their fields and to provide insight and guidance on how to get internships. The Department of Communications and the Arts encourage students to include the event in their plans on University Weekend.

“Students can come alone, with classmates or even bring their parents to learn more about opportunities to increase their career readiness,” Esmeraldino said.

Those that attend “A Major Party” will have the chance to get their photo taken, enjoy music and ice cream, and enter raffles.
