The Seton Hall volleyball team will return home on Wednesday night as they host local Rival St. Johns at Walsh Gym at 7 p.m. The Pirates are fresh off a 3-1 win at Villanova, as they improved to 2-0 in The Big East and 12-3 overall. The Hall has won six straight matches and is looking to continue the early Big East success. SHU has lost just one set in two league matches. “It’s very important (to continue the success), playing St. Johns is a huge match,” head coach Allison Yaeger said. “It always is every year and it’s very likely that we go to five (sets) with them. They are a very similar team that we are and every Big East match is important especially home matches.”

The Seton Hall volleyball team had not completely swept a weekend entering its fourth and final regular season tournament, the SHU Volleyball Classic. On Saturday night, the Pirates looked like they were heading into the same direction that their first three weekends went by. Senior Shelbey Manthorpe woke the blue and white up, though, and changed all that very quickly.

Even in her freshman season, the pressure of a waiting game was on Tessa Fournier. While Big East Libero of the Year Alyssa Warren breaking Seton Hall’s all-time digs record was a pinnacle moment last season, it only increased the size of the hole at libero for the 2014 campaign. That’s a lot of pressure riding on a second-year player. But Fournier’s been gearing up for the takeover at the position for a long time.
