Talking up a storm

The American Translators Association held their 50th anniversary convention last weekend in New York. More than 2,200 interpreters and translators descended upon the city for three days of sessions and seminars given in at least 10 languages.

Senior Emily Coady participated in the New York City Marathon on Nov. 1, finishing the 26.2 mile run in 5 hours 33 minutes and 2 seconds.

Orchestra hits high note at the Hall

The Seton Hall University Chamber Orchestra, in just its second semester of existence, had the unique opportunity to play in a workshop with the world-famous Chamber Orchestra Kremlin last Thursday.

Weezer returns with new attitude

Dressed as farm animals, Weezer rocked the Hammerstein Ballroom on Halloween night. After opening with "Hash Pipe," they played a solid 21-song setlist, which was full of fan favorites like "Undone-The Sweater Song," "Dope Nose," "Island In The Sun," and even deeper tracks like "Surf Wax America," "Tired Of Sex," and "Why Bother."

Hate crimes should not be an afterthought

Last week congressional Democrats finally managed to accomplish a decade-old goal: expanding the definition of federal hate crimes to include sexual orientation, gender, gender identity and disability. President Barack Obama promptly signed this landmark civil-rights legislation into law, and civil-rights organizations hailed the accomplishment.

No playoffs for soccer

The Seton Hall men's soccer team's postseason hopes were finally put to rest as the Pirates dropped their final regular season match 2-0 to West Virginia Saturday night at Owen T. Carroll Field.

New Pirates strong in debut

The Pirates defeated the Carleton University Ravens 89-62 on Friday night at Walsh Gymnasium, in its only exhibition game in preparation for the 2009-2010 season.

Rockin' for Relay

Seton Hall's Colleges Against Cancer will hold their Relay for Life Kickoff event, Battles Against Cancer, on Nov. 12 from 7 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. in the Pirate's Cove. The event will be free of charge.

Hall making late season push

With a five set victory over the DePaul Blue Demons on Nov. 1, the volleyball team won their 500th game in the history of the program and improved their record to 10-6 overall and 4-6 in the Big East.

Lil' Wayne raises the roof with "No Ceilings" mixtape

Lil Wayne delivered in true trick-or-treat fashion this Halloween, posting his "No Ceilings" mix tape to his website for all his fans to download for free. Like his enormously popular 2008 release, "Tha Carter III," this album brings forth the consistencies of Lil Wayne's music: contagious beats and clever, yet inflammatory, lyrics.

Who you gonna call?

Many Seton Hall students with AT&T wireless cell phones on campus have found the service to be substandard this semester. AT&T said that network engineers are currently working to correct the problem.
