Seton Hall will offer a 'free ninth semester' to incoming freshmen

Seton Hall announced that it would offer a "free ninth semester" to some freshmen students enrolling in the fall 2020 semester last week. The announcement came just days after the School announced that it would walk back its plan to begin the semester in-person as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, citing New Jersey’s failure to enter Stage Three of its economic reopening.

Seton Hall, Rutgers still holding out for fall sports in New Jersey

As of Friday, July 31, Drew University has postponed all in-conference sports contests for the fall semester. The decision came following a unanimous vote by the Landmark Conference Executive Board to postpone all contests within the conference for all schools. In terms of New Jersey colleges, only Seton Hall and Rutgers still plan to go forward with their fall sports programs and will play in-conference games only.

Furlough, hiring freezes saved Seton Hall roughly $1.1 million, according to bond filing

The furloughing of roughly 150 staff and a University hiring freezes saved Seton Hall approximately $1.1 million, according to a new filing from the New Jersey Educational Facilities Authority (NJEFA), which approved the University for roughly $109 million in revenue bonds for various improvements around campus on Wednesday. The furlough represented roughly 15% of all non-faculty Seton Hall staff, according to the paper.
