It’s been almost two years since the Seton Hall men’s basketball team played in the 2019 Big East Tournament final against Villanova. Off the back of a conference regular season title-winning year in 2020, a Myles Powell-led team was robbed of the opportunity to go a step further and claim the tournament title due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Back-to-back losses to Butler and Georgetown were followed by back-to-back losses to the University of Connecticut on Senior Night and the Redstorm in games that could have pushed the Pirates to as high as third in the Big East standings.
The stage was set for a fairy-tale ending to the quartet of the Seton Hall seniors’ final home game of the season. Fans were back in attendance, their NCAA Tournament hopes were on the line, they were up against a historic Big East rival in the University of Connecticut and it was Senior Night.
Sandro Mamukelashvili has seen the likes of Khadeen Carrington, Angel Delgado, Mike Nzei, Myles Powell and Quincy McKnight each be celebrated by thousands of Seton Hall fans on their Senior Nights. Each of those men’s basketball greats played a role in Mamukelashvili’s development as a player, and each has written their name in Seton Hall men’s basketball lore through their four years of commitment to the program.

Historically, opening day for the Big East regular season has a day to forget for the men's soccer team. Over the last decade, they had lost every single Big East opener to a collection of opponents including St. John's, Providence, DePaul, Creighton and Syracuse. In fact, the last time Seton Hall won their Big East regular season opener was in 2009 with a 3-1 win over Syracuse.

Unfortunately for Xavier, the Pirates did just that to secure a 43-point win over the Musketeers and take another step towards securing a top three seed for the Big East Tournament.

Seton Hall hung tough Monday night against conference powerhouse No. 19 DePaul but lost 82-76, their third loss in a row. Lauren Park-Lane led the Pirates with 24 points and Andra Espinoza-Hunter recorded a double-double with 17 points and 15 rebounds.
Off the back of a two-game away stint last week, Seton Hall men’s basketball returned to the Prudential Center for their second game of the season against Marquette. With just about month left for teams to make their cases for a spot in the NCAA Tournament, the Pirates came into this one knowing they had to grab the win.
After losing to No. 2 University of Connecticut on Wednesday night and falling to 4th place in the Big East, Seton Hall’s losing streak continued with Saturday's loss to Creighton.
