Growing up in Bay City, Texas, the signing to San Antonio marks a hometown return for Richardson-Smith. After spending four years in the program at Seton Hall, Richardson-Smith’s senior year was one for the record books. Not only did she become the Hall’s all-time leading scorer with a final count of 1,925 career points, but she also finished first in program history with 271 made 3-pointers and fourth in program history with 221 steals. Following the season, Richardson-Smith was a unanimous selection to the All-Big East First Team. She also received a nod on the All-Met Basketball Writers First Team. A dominant force in the Big East, Richardson-Smith was the conference scoring champion with 21.7 points per game in league play. Overall, she finished with 18.9 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 1.4 steals per game on 37.2 percent shooting and a 30.9 percent mark from 3-point range for the season. Richardson-Smith led the team in her final season in scoring (18.9), three-pointers made (2.3 per game), free throws made (3.9 per game) and minutes (33.6 per game). She was second in rebounding (6.9 per game). Richardson-Smith was also acknowledged for these marks and her career accomplishments recently, as she was named the Co-Senior Female Athlete of the Year by Seton Hall Athletics. After going undrafted, Richardson-Smith still finds her way into the WNBA with the signing, looking to bring her shot and play-making abilities to the next level. Her season with the San Antonio Stars will start on May 14 when the team takes on the Atlanta Dream for its regular season opener.
