Applications for tickets were split between a general application portal for the public and a Seton Hall University student-specific application portal. Priority access to the game will be awarded to Seton Hall students, men’s basketball season ticket holders and Pirate Blue Athletic Fund donors. The application portals will remain open until 11:59 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 25.

Seton Hall Athletics stated that seats are available for groups of up to four and fans who live in the same household may sit together. However, these groups of four may be divided into two groups of two seats.

Tickets for students with a valid student ID are free of charge, but tickets are currently priced at $40 per seat with the customer’s card being charged after the application. Fans selected to attend the game will be notified by March 1, and those who were not selected will be refunded the $40 they paid upon applying.

This announcement comes just a day after N.J. Gov. Phil Murphy announced indoor venues with a 5,000-seating capacity or more will be allowed to have 10% capacity. Outdoor venues were also announced to operate at 15% capacity beginning March 1.

The Prudential Center typically holds between 16,000 to 18,000 spectators when open to the public. Under the new restrictions, that would put the number of people allowed in the building at between 1,600 to 1,800. No official figure has been released by the University as to the number of fans Seton Hall will permit to attend the upcoming game.

The New York Knicks will be the first professional sports franchise to host fans for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic started last March in either N.Y. or N.J. Peter Botte of the New York Post reported that they are anticipating up to 2,000 fans at Madison Square Garden for the Knicks’ game against the Golden State Warriors. MSG’s maximum capacity is around 20,000.

The immediate family members of players and coaches is still limited to just two per person and is effective immediately.
