It has recently been revealed that a collaboration between the Dean of the School of Diplomacy, Andrea Bartoli, and SGA Senators Arthur Adriano and Julia Nicolls is currently underway. The partnership stems from the series of lectures on water-related topics and issues that have been occurring on campus.

Though the main focus of the collaboration is on the water consumption on campus and the adverse effects it can lead to if it is not conserved, it goes beyond that. Motivated by his interest in water, Bartoli and SGA Senators also plan on incorporating the importance of water and its connection to life.

Bartoli believes that there is a need to stress just how important water is since it is taken for granted on a daily basis. He points out that “we need water to live and life needs water to exist,” adding that the human body is mostly made up of water, to convey the significant impact water has on all forms of life. Bartoli hopes that the collaboration with SGA senators will reinforce the role humans have in conserving water.

He described the series of water lectures as “an invitation for the university as a whole to play a role in this awareness of the importance of water and envisions the collaboration as conveying a similar message to both the student body and faculty members.” Since the SGA senators represent the entire student body and maintain an ongoing relationship with faculty members and administration, Bartoli’s plan to spread awareness on the importance of water and its inextricable connection to life will trickle down throughout the university.

Bartoli and the SGA senators hope that a communal bond at the university will grow out of this collaboration.

Bartoli and the SGA senators want the partnership to serve as a platform for people to grow in their understanding and appreciation of water, its connection to life and the part we play in it.
