Pirates exit North Texas Tournament with victory

The Seton Hall softball team wrapped up the North Texas Tournament in Denton, Texas with a 7-2 win over Arkansas Pine Bluff on Sunday morning. The win moves the Pirates to 5-4 on the season.

The first inning went scoreless, but in the bottom of the second, the Pirates brought in six runs, which set an enforcing tone for the game. Emily Supercynski started the scoring with an RBI single, and Hailey Arteaga extended the lead with an RBI double. Ragen Reddick then knocked in another with an RBI double later on.

The Pirates held the Golden Lions scoreless until the top of the fourth, where surrendered a couple of unearned runs.

Reganne Camp and Mo Sobel combined to not allow an earned run throughout the entire game. Camp allowed no runs and had six strikeouts through three innings pitched. Sobel allowed three hits through her time on the rubber.

At bat, the Pirates had eight different players record hits.  Baylee Allender was the only Pirate to have a multi-hit game, going 2-for-2 with a run scored. Janae Barracato recorded the most RBIs for the squad with two for the game.

The Pirates return to action on Feb. 22 for the start of the ECU Pirate Invitational in Greenville, N.C.
