Pirates sweep LIU Brooklyn in convincing fashion

On Feb. 10, the Seton Hall women’s tennis team came out victorious with a 7-0 sweep at LIU Brooklyn. They win completes a weekend sweep after beating Drexel the day before, and improves the team’s record to 4-1 on the season.

Seton Hall swept the doubles bracket, as all three teams won their respective matches. Anicka Fajnorova and Regina Pitts played a close and tight match and were still able to squeeze out a 7-6 (3) victory against LIU Brooklyn’s Anna Grigoryan and Ana Leonte. Melody Taal and Michal Matson were able to dominate their match, cruising to a 6-0 victory against Malin Leysen and Jennifer Gogova.

In singles, Seton Hall would also win all six of its matches in convincing fashion, not allowing any match to go over two sets. Fajnorova won 6-1, 6- 2 over Grigoryan yet again. Matson and Minja Gligic would have their first sets go to the wire, but they would each then dominate their second sets. The team would ultimately go on to complete the sweep.

The Pirates will continue non-conference on Feb. 15 at Fordham.
