The Board of Regents met behind closed doors yesterday but did not come to a decision on Seton Hall’s next president, according to a report Friday in The Star-Ledger.

Msgr. Stuart Swetland has been the only candidate for the position since April 13.

The report says that the Board of Regents gathered “to discuss appointing Swetland” but no announcement would be forthcoming.

A Seton Hall spokesperson added that “the process is continuing.”

The report for The Star Ledger included that, with no additional candidates named or any indication of the search being reopened, Swetland is “the likely choice” to succeed University President Msgr. Robert Sheeran.

Sheeran will step down from the position on June 30.
