Seton Hall responds swiftly to online comment

A day after the shooting at the STEM School Highlands Ranch in Denver, CO, which left one student dead and eight others injured, a commenter on The Setonian’s website made a highly-charged reference to violence in one of its stories.

The comment, which was caught by The Setonian’s moderation system, was left around 10:00 on Wednesday morning by an unnamed individual who is believed to be unaffiliated with the University. The Setonian reported the incident immediately to University officials and Public Safety, which contacted the South Orange Police Department (SOPD).

Comments on the story were shut off and both The Setonian and the University took the matter very seriously.

Said Seton Hall Associate Vice President for Public Safety, Pat Linfante: “Our students were never under any sort of a threat nor were they ever in any danger.”
