The Seton Hall men’s golf team traveled to Malvern, Pa. this past weekend to compete in the Villanova Invitational. In the three-day tournament, the Pirates finished sixth.
The team, which included Chris Yeom, Gen Nagai, Alex Chalk, Gregor Tait, and Deven Ramachandran, ended the weekend 16 points behind first place with 880 points (296-288-296). Andres Acevedo competed as an individual.
Yeom had his second consecutive top-10 finish as he tied with Georgetown’s Eduardo Blochtein and VCU’s Alston Newsom for 10th place. His 73-70-75 scoreline was the best of any Seton Hall competitor and was just three points short of tying for first place.
Ramachandran continued to impress in his freshman season, as he finished tied for 13th with Delaware’s Christian Chapman at 219 points. It was a stark individual improvement after a less than flattering 40th place finish at the Hartford Hawks Invitational.
Nagai could not improve upon his finish at the Hartford Hawks Invitational, as he tied with Tait for 26th overall. He ended the three-day tournament at 223 points with a 74-74-75 record. Tait, who competed as an individual last tournament, ended the tournament with 223 points and had a 76-74-73 record.
Acevedo, after finishing 52nd last tournament, finished his individual performance tied at 24th overall with VCU’s Adrian Vagberg on 222 points. Of all players to compete individually, Acevedo only finished behind Appalachian State’s Jack Brea. Acevedo also finished as the third highest ranked Seton Hall golfer by the end of the weekend, finishing with a 72-76-74 record.
Chalk rounded off the six-man roster with a 38th place finish.. Chalk had a difficult second round, ending with 85 points. Overall, he finished at 233 points with a 73-85-75 scoreline.
