New students express appreciation for Bethany Hall

The Class of 2022 recently became the first to have their freshman orientation in Bethany Hall, Seton Hall’s newly constructed building that opened last spring. A few freshmen students shared their thoughts on the new building. [caption id="attachment_23731" align="aligncenter" width="838"] Kiera Alexander/ Asst. Bethany Hall was built to be a welcome center for visitors and new students. In the past, freshmen orientations were originally held in the University Center before it was moved to Bethany Hall in August. Michele Modugno, a freshman bio-physical therapy major, said that Bethany Hall is a cool place to meet visitors and classmates. “It was a nice opportunity to meet everyone before school starts,” Modugno said. Carly Fultano, a freshman social work major, said that the new building is a nice gathering place that provides great opportunities to meet more people and learn about the different aspects of the campus. Zachary DeMetro, a freshman business major, and Joseph Ramos, a freshman undeclared major, were on campus for the summer semester prior to attending the freshman orientation. They said that because they had already familiarized themselves with the campus, they felt that the orientation was “drawn out and repetitive.” However, DeMetro said the new building is gorgeous. Ramos added that the building was also “aesthetically pleasing.” Victoria Pivovarnick, the project manager of Facilities Engineering, said that Bethany Hall personifies the past, present and future of Seton Hall University and showcases the school by representing its values, culture and goals. “Bethany Hall marks this strategic location with a building of iconic character derived from the historic architecture of President’s Hall,” Pivovarnick said. She added that she has confidence in Bethany Hall as it conveys a tradition in Catholic heritage, academic excellence and the history of Elizabeth Ann Seton’s namesake college. Bethany Hall is located in the front part of the campus across from the Farinella Gate. Alexa Coughlin can be reached at alexa.coughlin@student.shu.edu.
