Missing link: Students miss favorite food chains

While at school there are many things that students miss which can include family and friends of course, but it also means missing comfort foods which can only be found at home. Nothing says home like a slice from a favorite pizzeria or a deli sandwich made by a friendly familiar face. So what are the food chains which Seton Hall University students miss from home and are there any new ones near campus which they miss while on summer vacation? “I miss Portillos so much and Giordano’s, they have the best deep dish pizza. I haven’t really eaten at any signature N.J. restaurants however, sandwiches and bagels are much more popular than in Chicago so I eat a lot of those,” said Gabby Turck, a junior public relations major and Chicago native. Although some students do not live far from home, a few hours can feel worlds away when homesickness rears its ugly head. “I miss Wawa, I think the closest one to SHU is about 25 to 30 minutes away, but near my house they are everywhere.I also miss Blitz’s Market/ Deli and Boyars Market in Ocean City,”said  Jessica Scari, a senior graphic design major and Ocean City, N.J. native. Scari added that she likes how Blitz and Boyar have great homemade sandwiches and salads which also act as little convenience stores to pick up groceries. Jennifer Scari, Jessica’s twin and a senior economics major and legal studies minor, said she misses the local eateries of Ocean City and a place called Uncle Bill’s as it has delicious stuffed French toast. When asked of any new places which they have grown to love, the sisters agreed that they both like Hot Bagels Abroad on South Orange Ave.   Even when far from home, enjoying a home-cooked meal or take out from a favorite restaurant can be truly comforting.
